When building Video Surveillance Network outdoors, backhaul network is very important. Normally has the common backhaul methods as following:

(1) Fiber Related

When fiber is easily available, wired transmission is of course the best means. Because the wired network bandwidth is stable and the delay is low, it is the best backhaul method for video surveillance network. Generally, uplink backhaul can be provided in the form of GE/10GE optical port SFP/SFP+. It can also be in the form of GPON/10GPON. The advantage of GPON is to save dark fiber.

(2) LTE/5G

For places without optical fiber, LTE can usually be considered as the backhaul method. LTE/5G is easier to get than fiber. But there will be some problems, such as delay, bandwidth and signal coverage are strongly correlated. Therefore, if you need to use wireless backhaul, it is recommended to conduct a complete survey of the site before deploying the video surveillance network. To determine whether the signal strength is suitable for deployment and the backhaul rate. If the signal is weak, it can be solved by CAT6, CAT12 module or enhanced antenna performance.

(3) P2P P2MP Wireless Backahaul

There are some backhaul for video surveillance scenes, no LTE, no fiber. At this time, we often can only pass P2P, P2MP wireless backhaul. At this time, global planning of the network is required to aggregate traffic to a centralized node.
