Edge Span U1000AD-ST UPS for Starlink is a multifunctional smart node designed specifically for Starlink scenarios. Starlink scenarios are often located in remote areas, where the environment is relatively complex and the power supply is often unstable. Starlink often has various network devices hanging down, and their power consumption standards are different. Some use AC power, some use DC power, and some use POE. Edge Span U1000AD-ST provides 1000VA AC power for Starlink scenarios, as well as 400W DC48V power. In addition, it provides 802.3at and 802.3bt POE interfaces for network devices. Finally, it also provides corresponding POE power supply for Starlink. This simplifies the deployment of the entire scenario.
In addition, in view of the complex environment of Starlink deployment in remote areas, Edge Span U1000AD-ST is designed with IP65 ingress protection.
Edge Span U1000 UPS for Starlink has an embedded IoT router, which can integrate different external sensors such as weather stations, environmental sensors and other devices according to customer requirements, and process the data at the edge and upload it to the software platform.

Weakness of Traditional Starlink UPS Scenario
Although Starlink deployment in remote areas solves the problem of backhaul network, applications in various scenarios need to be built by customers themselves. For example, CCTV cameras provide security monitoring, WIFI APs provide network coverage, and some IoT sensor monitoring data is backhauled. The figure above shows a typical Starlink application scenario, which uses traditional UPS, POE switches, and IoT routers. Although this achieves the goal, it has the following weaknesses:
Complex power supply and network topology
When we build the whole solution in the traditional way, the power and network topology are too complicated. It should be noted that since Starlink sites have no network, they are generally located in relatively remote areas. Building a relatively complex solution in a remote area is very uneconomical from the perspective of maintenance and installation.
The variety of equipment makes transportation to the site expensive
As we can see, there are many types of equipment in traditional solutions. As we mentioned before, Starlink sites are generally located in remote areas. Therefore, it is not easy to transport these devices to the site. And if the power backup time is long, the lead-acid battery will be very heavy, which greatly increases the transportation cost.
Site construction and commissioning costs are high
The cost of construction and debugging based on such a topology will be very high. It is conceivable that engineers with certain skills will be required to go to the site for installation and debugging. However, because the site is remote, the time spent by the engineers on the road plus the debugging period will make the total cost very high.
High cost of monitoring and maintenance
It can be found that it is difficult to monitor all devices when building the entire solution with this traditional topology. It is also not easy to find a software platform to monitor all devices. Because the site is located in a remote area, if the device is not monitored and managed by the software, then when the entire solution fails, it is difficult to know what happened. In this way, engineers have to be sent to the remote site to locate the problem, which greatly increases maintenance costs.

IoT Router with Edge Control and Computing
The all in one Starlink UPS has an embedded IoT router with edge control and computing capability, which makes it easy to effectively monitor and manage the entire system while integrating and processing data from IoT sensors.
Cloud Management Software Platform
The system can be managed and monitored through Edgeware’s Convergence Software platform, and data from various IoT sensors can be integrated for data visualization. If necessary, we can also report data to a third-party management software platform through all in one UPS for Starlink.

Starlink POE Function Embedded
Designed for Starlink scenarios, it is specially embedded with Starlink-specific POE function to simplify the installation and debugging of Starlink.
AC DC Dual Voltage
The system’s built-in UPS fully considers the power requirements of peripheral devices in the Starlink scenario, providing the voltage required by the DC48V communication power supply standard and AC voltage. If the customer needs it, you can also add commonly used voltages such as DC12V and DC24V.
IP65/NEMA 4
The system fully considers the possible deployment scenarios of Starlink, both outdoor and indoor. FAN Less Dissipation
The system is designed as an overall fanless design, and the heat dissipation is based on the natural heat dissipation of the entire machine shell, which is well adapted to the requirements of Starlink at remote sites. Customized Battery Capacity

POE+/POE++Functions
The system has PoE+ Ports Can also add one PoE++ 802.3bt port which can reach 110W. It can be adapted to most POE devices, thus simplifying the installation of customer equipment in Starlink scenarios.
IoT Sensor Control Interface
System supports 2 RS485, 1 RS232, 1 DI, and 1 DO. Modbus can be run on RS485. Therefore, customers can build their edge control site with control devices functions such as battery BMS, solar controller, IoT Sensors, etc. If customer request more interfaces, we can add based on customer request.
IoT Edge Computing and Control
The system can configure edge computing and control core to manage and calculate edge IoT and other devices, and transmit these data back to the server software platform with Starlink, so as to extend IoT to remote areas that are difficult to reach through various networks. At the same time, edge computing and control core can also use its own protocol capabilities to connect the site
WIFI Supported
System has 802.11n WIFI function as optional . It can provide small amount of WIFI access for users in edge network scenarios. It can also facilitate engineers to access WIFI for configuration and maintenance.

Battery Management System

Envrionment Management
The deployment environment of Edge Span U1000AD-ST Starlink UPS is relatively complex, so Edge Span has built-in temperature and humidity sensors that can synchronize real-time conditions to the software platform.
POE Management and Control
CCTV cameras and WIFI ap devices sometimes freeze, and the solution usually requires restarting these devices. However, because Starlink is often deployed in remote sites, it is not easy to restart these POE devices at the site. To address this problem, the POE port in the Edge Span U1000AD-ST UPS for Starlink can be remotely restarted through the Edgeware software platform, helping customers solve the problem without having to go to the site.
Third Party Software Platform Integration
Although Edgeware has its own software platform, customers often have their own considerations for the management of the entire network and have their own management system or OSS.
