What are the application scenarios of outdoor ups system with 300 watt battery backup?
Outdoor UPS system is often used for outdoor power backup for Telecom devices, IoT devices, video surveillance and other scenarios. However, most outdoor UPS systems are mainly considered for telecom scenarios, and the rated power is often designed at 1000W, 2000W, and 3000W. For power backup in scenarios such as telecom small cells, this rated power is more appropriate. But for IoT and video surveillance scenarios, 1000W is too large. Outdoor ups system with 300 watt battery backup is mainly suitable for IoT, video surveillance, rural area coverage, P2MP wireless and other scenarios.
Why do we need outdoor ups system with 300 watt battery backup?
We take Huawei’s outdoor UPS system as an example. For more details, please refer to this link: Huawei Outdoor UPS
We can see that the smallest Huawei outdoor UPS system is 2KW, and the largest is 12KW. This is the mainstream capacity of outdoor UPS systems on the market. However, returning to the IoT and video surveillance camera scenarios, we will find that the capacity requirement for outdoor UPS systems will not exceed 300 watt battery backup.
The above picture shows a typical scenario of IoT Sensors and LTE IoT gateway. We can see that the power consumption of IoT sensors or control devices is generally low. Generally speaking, the power consumption of devices such as flow meters and smart valve meters will not exceed 1W. Although devices such as PLC are different, they are also in the 5-30W level. In addition to the LTE IoT gateway, their total power consumption will not exceed 60W. At this time, if we use an outdoor ups system with rated power 1KW 2KW, it will be too large and extravagant.
The above picture is a typical power backup for CCTV camera scenario. In this scenario, we have 3 cameras and an outdoor UPS system for CCTV camera power backup. Generally speaking, the power consumption of bullet cameras is less than 20W, while PTZ cameras sometimes exceed 60W. Therefore, the power consumption of the entire power backup for CCTV camera scenario will not exceed 120W.
The above picture shows a power backup for CCTV camera scenario with a high camera density. There are 8 cameras in this scenario. If calculated according to our previous assumptions, the power consumption of this scenario will not exceed 250W.
So based on the calculations of the previous scenarios, the total power consumption of IoT and CCTV camera scenarios generally does not exceed 300W. If we design an outdoor ups system with 300 watt battery backup, it will be suitable for most IoT and CCTV camera scenarios. At the same time, there will be some redundant power to ensure long-term stable operation of the system.
Edgeware outdoor ups system with 300 watt battery backup
Edge Span U60-LSP-7 is an all-in-one smart node that integrates Layer2 POE Switch, UPS, and Battery. The system adopts a small and compact design, which completely revolutionizes the patchwork deployment of traditional outdoor cabinets. Edge Span U60-LSP-7 makes the deployment of scenarios such as Video surveillance, outdoor WIFI, and rural area network coverage more standardized and faster. The system’s enclosure is made entirely of cast aluminum shells, which is completely rust-proof and has ingress protection up to IP65/NEMA4 level, making it very suitable for deployment in harsh environmental areas. The system heat dissipation is based on natural heat dissipation of the cast aluminum shell, and there are no fan components, so that the system can run for a long time without maintenance. The system has 802.3at (POE+) and 802.3bt 110W (POE++) capabilities, and can be widely adapted to different types of POE devices.
