CCTV Backup Power Supply-Edge Span U1000-LTEP

Edge Span U1000-LTEP is a customized CCTV Backup Power Supply designed specifically for smart traffic scenario as a POE UPS meanwhile with CAT12 LTE and Inverter Functions. This CCTV backup power supply is mainly deployed in crossroads to provide POE backup power for CCTV cameras, and also provides AC backup power supply for traffic light controller equipment. In some scenarios, there may be communication equipment such as 4G small cells, for which Edge Span U1000-LTEP provides DC48V backup power supply. In addition to the power backup function, Edge Span U1000-LTEP has a built-in PoE Switch that can provide POE+ (802.3at) and POE++ (802.3bt) POE power, and also has a built-in CAT12 LTE Router module. Customers can choose a fiber optic uplink interface or a CAT12 LTE backhaul (there is also a 5G version) based on the backhaul conditions of the smart traffic scenario.

One CCTV Backup Power Supply Site for Smart Traffic Scenario

The left picture shows a site in Latin America and the Caribbean. You can see that CCTV Backup Power Suppy will encounter the following challenges when deployed in such an environment:

(1) The outdoor environment is subject to strong sunlight and rain, which is quite complex.

(2) The site is not far from the sea, so you can imagine that the air humidity is very high.

(3) The electromagnetic radiation around the site is quite complex. There is also a 4G small cell outside the photo.

(4) Thunderstorms are frequent in this area, especially typhoons and storms every summer.

(5) Once installed, the equipment will work for 5-10 years without maintenance. At this time, the system itself needs to have strong reliability.

Ingress Protection with IP65/NEMA4X

As we have introduced in the previous chapter photos, the deployment environment of CCTV backup power supply is relatively complex. Especially sometimes it is deployed in a seaside environment. If the traditional IP55-level outdoor cabinet is used to build the UPS for CCTV camera system, it will not be able to operate stably for a long time in these harsh environments. Therefore, Edgeware insists on designing the UPS for CCTV camera with IP65/NEMA4X ingress protection to ensure that the system can still operate stably in different challenging environments.

Enclosure with Rugged Design

 

The entire system is ruggedly designed, and the shell reaches IK08 level protection, thus protecting the system inside the shell from external impact.

Rust-Proof

When CCTV backup power supply is deployed in a high humidity and rainy environment, the rusting problem will not only affect the appearance of the equipment, but in many cases it can even corrode the entire system. Therefore, Edgeware insists that a reliable UPS for CCTV should be Rust-free. Edgeware’s product shell is formed by a cast aluminum shell in one step, and aluminum is naturally rust-proof, thus solving the rusting problem.

Surge Protection

Another major challenge in the outdoor environment is surge protection. UPS for CCTV camera requires a comprehensive design and consideration of the lightning protection and grounding of the entire system. For power input and power output, lightning protection of 20Ka level or above is required. For other signal interfaces, such as Ethernet port and signal port, lightning protection is also required. This allows the entire system to work stably and long-term outdoors.

All Components Natural Heat Dissipation

Edgeware’s Edge Span series products are all based on the cooling design of natural heat dissipation, so do Edge Span U1000 LTEP . We believe that the natural heat dissipation feature is different from the cooling design of general FANs. The whole system does not have the limitation of the FAN mechanical part, so that the whole system can be maintained and operated for ten years. This greatly saves the cost of engineers visiting the site for maintenance and directly saves OPEX. 

High Temperature Resistant Long Life Battery

The most vulnerable and core component of the UPS system is the battery. The lithium batteries we use can withstand the relatively high temperature inside the UPS. At the same time, they have a higher energy density than ordinary lead-acid batteries, thus miniaturizing the entire product.

POE+/POE++

As a POE UPS, Edge Span U1000 LTEP CCTV backup power supply supports POE+ (802.3at) and POE++ (802.3bt) functions, a single system can support different types of bullet and PTZ cameras.

Remote Monitoring and Management

All key components of the Edge Span U1000 LTEP system are monitored and managed. Key information can be reported to the Edgeware software platform or to a third-party software platform by MQTT.

AC/DC Dual Output

Edge Span U1000 LTEP CCTV backup power supply supports AC110V or 220V and DC48V. Because the system provides DC and AC dual power supplies, it can provide different voltages for external devices and adapt to the common voltage of Telecom and the AC voltage used by general electrical appliances.

4G CAT12 Uplink

Edge Span U1000 LTEP CCTV backup power supply supports CAT12 high-speed LTE backhaul. In some places where there is no optical fiber, 4G backhaul can be relied on.

Main Uplink and Backup Uplink Backup Eachother

Edge Span U1000 LTEP CCTV backup power supply supports Ethernet fiber uplink and 4G/5G. In actual operation, they can serve as the main and backup links for each other. For example, the usual deployment method is Ethernet Fiber as the main uplink and 4G/5G as the backup link. When the system detects that the main link is down, it switches to the backup link. When the main uplink is restored, the traffic switches back to the main uplink. This greatly enhances the availability of the entire network.

Main Steam VPN Supported for Enhanced Security

Edge Span U1000 LTEP CCTV backup power supply is designed for smart traffic, and the security of its network is very important. Mainstream VPN technologies such as IPSEC VPN, L2TP VPN, GRE, etc. are already supported. In addition, in actual deployment, the IP address for 4G/5G uplink is allocated by the operator, which will affect the accessibility of the entire network equipment maintenance. As a POE UPS, Edge Span U1000 LTEP has very comprehensive POE management function.The POE switch board embedded in the system will be managed by our software platform. The port status can be remotely managed through the software platform. The POE port can be remotely controlled to shut down and restart. Based on this function, the CCTV system can be restarted remotely to solve the camera freeze problem in most cases.
