Edge Span U60-LTEP is a CCTV Outdoor UPS designed for outdoor all in one smart node combining video surveillance and IoT scenarios. Its overall design is IP65/NEMA 4 ingress protection. At the same time, it integrates CCTV outdoor UPS, lithium battery, and 4G thingsboard gateway functions into a highly integrated system to achieve the purpose of joint deployment of CCTV camera sites and IoT scenarios. It can be widely used in scenarios such as smart city, smart agriculture, and smart weather system. Edge Span U60-LTEP mainly includes the following subsystems:

System Function and Topology
Edge Span U60-LTEP is a smart node that integrates CCTV outdoor UPS and Thingsboard gateway based on video surveillance outdoor scenarios. We found that in many smart city project scenarios, in addition to deploying 1-3 CCTV cameras on the CCTV camera pole, there are also various sensors. For example, all-in-one weather sensors are used to detect wind speed, temperature, PM2.5 and other parameters used in smart city scenarios. Or there is a need to control street lights and traffic lights. Edge Span U60-LTEP can provide customers with a one-stop solution in this scenario.
- CCTV outdoor UPS
The system has a built-in UPS 300W or 100W and a lithium battery to provide UPS backup power for the entire system. At the same time, the POE power is provided by the UPS. Therefore, the entire system can be used as a CCTV outdoor UPS to provide power and backup power for the connected POE devices.
- IoT Sensors and Peripherals
Edge Span U60-LTEP can provide UPS back up power and control and monitoring for various IoT sensors or peripherals. According to customer needs, we can add modbus interfaces, DI, and DO interfaces to monitor and control the integration of devices in various scenarios such as IoT weather sensor, motion sensor, traffic light, industrial control, etc.
- 4G Uplink
Edge Span U60-LTEP can be configured with different 4G wireless modules according to the customer’s country and bandwidth requirements. This allows the entire system’s traffic to be backhauled via 4G.
- Thingsboard Gateway
The system’s built-in programable thingsboard gateway can customize the system control logic according to the needs of different scenarios. Edgeware will deeply understand customer needs and provide a complete solution.
- North Bound Interface
The system’s north bound interface can be the thingsboard software platform, the Edgeware Convergence software platform, or even a third-party software platform.
Smart Weather Site Solution

- Smart Weather Sensor Integration
Edge Span U60-LTEP is equipped with DC12V or DC24V output to power the smart weather sensor. It is also equipped with a Modbus interface. Polling of the weather sensor can be configured in the thingsboard gateway to periodically obtain weather-related information. Edgeware provides a multi-functional weather sensor that can provide a variety of information such as temperature, humidity, air pressure, wind direction, wind speed, rainfall, CO2, light intensity, PM2.5, PM10, etc. through a system.
- CCTV Camera Video Traffic Backhaul
Because Edge Span U60-LTEP is designed as a CCTV Outdoor UPS, it can provide UPS power backup for three CCTV cameras. Generally, we recommend configuring at most one 802.3bt and the other two 802.3at.
- VPN Tunnel
Edge Span U60 has built-in thingsboard gateway, which is a powerful router. It has many mainstream VPN technologies such as IP SEC, L2TP, PPTP, GRE, OPEN VPN, etc., which makes it easy for customers to build a secure network that is convenient for intranet IP planning. Generally, we choose IP SEC VPN. We only need to configure a VPN tunnel from the site to the edge router at the headquarters, and the tunnel terminates at the edge router. The tunnel carries video traffic and weather sensor traffic.
- North Bound Interface
Edge Span U60 can report the data collected by the smart weather sensor to the thingsboard platform. Generally, the MQTT message format is used. You can also use Edgeware’s Convergence software platform. You can also report to the customer’s third-party platform.
