The Application of 100W Mini UPS
Most UPS products on the market have a power of 1KVA, 2KVA, 3KVA or even larger. However, we find that in video surveillance and IoT scenarios, even 1KVA is too large. Based on these scenarios, Edgeware has developed a 100W mini UPS module for deployment in video surveillance, IoT, and small communication equipment scenarios, helping customers to miniaturize UPS devices as much as possible, thereby achieving faster and easier site deployment.
Why do we need 100W Mini UPS
The general 1KVA UPS is a large 19-inch rack-mounted UPS as shown above. There are also tower types. These are standard products that can be found in the market. However, when we deploy a video surveillance or IoT project, this type of UPS is obviously not suitable. We analyze video surveillance and IoT projects separately:
Video surveillance project
Video surveillance projects are generally installed on a pole, and each pole does not exceed 8 cameras. The most common scenario is 1-3 cameras. At this time, according to the 802.3at POE+ standard, the total power consumption will not exceed 100W. On the other hand, the standardized 1KVA UPS on the market is obviously too large for this scenario. This will result in the purchase of the corresponding 19-inch rack-mounted compatible CCTV outdoor cabinet. You can imagine how large the entire system will be. For the installation scenario of outdoor video surveillance, the cost of on-site installation and transportation is very high.
IoT project
The power of IoT scenarios is even smaller. The entire system is generally composed of IoT edge controllers and IoT sensors. The general power does not exceed 30W. It would be even more inappropriate to use a 1KVA UPS on the market to build the entire system.
Therefore, we believe that a UPS system with the correct capacity is needed to match the correct scenario, so as to achieve the optimal size, cost, and stability of the entire system. This is also the original intention of Edgeware to develop the 100W mini UPS.
Edgeware 100W Mini UPS Module
The above picture shows the 100W Mini UPS module developed by Edgeware. As a core module, it can be embedded in Edgeware’s Edge Span or Edge Euquation series as the core power system. In particular, after the Edge Span series is embedded in the 100W mini UPS module, the cost and size of the entire system can be optimized.
At the same time, this 100W mini UPS module is a fully industrial-grade design that can withstand the relatively high temperatures in CCTV camera outdoor enclosures or IoT enclosures and work stably for a long time. In addition, the 100W mini UPS module itself is based on natural heat dissipation design, and with the full cast aluminum shell design of the Edge Span series, it can easily achieve natural heat dissipation of the entire system, and there are no fans and other devices, so as to better achieve long-term maintenance-free operation.
In addition, the 100W mini UPS module can provide DC4 8V and DC12V outputs, and has various protection functions such as complete input lightning protection, overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent, short circuit protection, etc.
