Rugged outdoor UPS-Edge Span U1000-AC is an outdoor UPS designed to provide power backup for outdoor equipment. The maximum system power is 1KVA, and the system ingress protection reaches IP65. Edge Span U1000-AC is an efficient AC-UPS system. Its rugged shell design and its own natural heat dissipation characteristics provide customers with a new power back supply option in outdoor environments. Edge Span U1000-AC can be widely used in video surveillance, industrial control, smart traffic these kind of outdoor solution that need power battery backup. Edge Span U1000-AC is a compact design outdoor UPS that completely dissipates heat based on natural heat dissipation. Edge Span U1000-AC inherits Edgeware's long-standing all-in-one and maintenance free design concept. Once deployed, basically no on-site maintenance is required. In order to meet the challenges of outdoor deployment, the system has perfect lightning protection features, and the main power input and output interfaces have lightning protection of 20Ka. Edge Span U1000-AC is also designed with an optional bypass module. When the customer is equipped with this module, the system can ensure that the load can be repaired and maintained without powering off. For UPS, Battery and environmental monitoring inside the shell, Edge Span U1000-AC rugged outdoor UPS can be configured with Edgeware's edge control unit to monitor and manage the entire system. It can also be simplified according to customer needs, providing only an RS485 interface to customers, who monitor the operation of the entire system through RS485.

IP65/NEMA4X

The ingress protection of Edge Span U1000-AC rugged outdoor UPS reaches IP65/NEMA4X level. Based on this ingress level, it can be easily deployed in extreme environments such as desert areas in the Middle East and tropical rainforest areas in Latin America.

Rugged Design System

The overall system is designed with rugged design as the goal, and the system is designed to be as reliable and durable as possible to adapt to the installation environment of outdoor UPS.

Rust-Proof Design

The 2mm thick cast aluminum shell is a one-step molded shell, which ensures that the interior of the system is well isolated from the external environment, so all the internal components and circuits completely avoid the risk of corrosion and rust. The aluminum material of the shell itself also ensures that the shell itself is 100% rust-proof.

Surge Protection

Surge protection is enhanced in the Edge Span U1000-AC. As a high-reliability rugged outdoor UPS, outdoor lightning protection needs to be fully considered, so the input and output lightning protection are both up to 20Ka level. At the same time, the UPS circuit itself also takes into account the particularity of the power grid when deployed outdoors, and will face situations such as over-voltage and under-voltage. The system has also made a complete protection design for these.

Output Protection

When the Rugged Outdoor UPS is installed outdoors, its output interface reaches the load through a distance outdoors. This is not as predictable as indoors. There is a higher probability of overload, short circuit and other problems. Edgeware has deployed projects where the load line was bitten by rats and the line was grounded. Therefore, our system is also designed with perfect over-current, short-circuit, over-temperature and other protections at the output, so that the safety of the entire system can still be guaranteed under special circumstances.

Internal Battery and External Battery Options Available

Edge Span U1000-AC provides customers with two models: internal battery and external battery. If the customer wants an all-in-one system, we can install a small lithium battery in Edge Span U1000-AC, so that the system can guarantee 15 minutes of autonomy. For some large-scale scenarios, customers want to provide longer system autonomy, we can provide customers with external IP65 battery pack solutions, such as B60 and B200 products. Of course, we can also provide external battery packs provided by customers.

System Monitoring

The entire Edge Span U1000-AC system can be monitored and managed by installing Edgeware’s Edge Control Unit. It can also be synchronized to Edgeware’s Convergence software platform. It can also be reported to the customer’s third-party software platform via MQTT.

Bypass Mode

Edge Span U1000-AC rugged outdoor UPSt is usually deployed next to some very important outdoor core equipment as a backup power supply. When some special circumstances or accidents cause the UPS to be damaged or require maintenance, the general UPS needs to power off the entire system for maintenance. When the Edge Span U1000-AC is equipped with a bypss module, this module will detect the working status of the UPS. When the UPS is under maintenance or power off, the system’s bypass working mode will be started, so that the power supply bypasses the UPS and works directly for the load, thereby achieving uninterrupted operation of the load during UPS repair and maintenance. The bypass mode switching time is less than 50ms, and the load will not perceive this switch and maintain normal operation.

Edge Span U1000 outdoor UPS IP65 can be widely used in 4G/5G small cell backup power supply, industrial control and other high-power power backup scenarios. Edge Span U1000 can also configure different monitoring modules according to customer scenarios to send monitoring traffic back to the software platform via Ethernet fiber port or 4G.
