4. Outdoor UPS for CCTV based on Layer 2 PoE Switch Scenario

4.1 Scenario

Layer 2 POE Switch Scenario

The above figure is a typical CCTV site topology based on layer 2 PoE switch. All CCTV cameras in the site are aggregated to the Layer 2 PoE switch. After the traffic is aggregated, it is connected to the upstream aggregation network through the WAN ports of the PoE Switch. At the same time, the layer 2 PoE switch also supplies power to the CCT V camera through PoE/PoE+/PoE++. So the outdoor UPS for CCTV and the Layer 2 PoE switch are naturally an organic whole. 4. Outdoor UPS for CCTV based on 4G/5G PoE Router

4.1 Scenario

Outdoor UPS for CCTV based on 4G/5G PoE Router

The figure above is the topology of the outdoor UPS for CCTV based on 4G/5G PoE Router scenario. In this scenario, all CCTV cameras at the CCTV site will converge on a layer 3 router, and the layer 3 router will power the CCTV camera via PoE. For the backhaul of upstream traffic, there are two sub-scenarios:

(1) The backhaul of site traffic is completely based on 4G/5G

The CCTV site in this scenario is located in some areas without fiber coverage. At this time, the upstream traffic needs to be completely based on 4G/5G backhaul. When 5G coverage is good, the wireless bandwidth is sufficient, but in the case of 4G, sometimes the wireless bandwidth is not enough for all cameras. Therefore, it is necessary to calculate the bandwidth required for the entire site. At the same time, it is recommended to configure a CAT12 4G wireless module for the 4G backhaul site to increase the bandwidth as much as possible.

(2) The backhaul of site traffic is based on fiber, but with 4G/5G as backup

This scenario is often a scenario with high availability for CCTV sites, such as national security networks, border monitoring, etc. At this time, the site traffic backhaul is mainly based on optical fiber, but when the router detects that the optical fiber connection is interrupted, it will switch the traffic to 4G/5G. When the router detects that the optical fiber connection is restored, it will switch the traffic back to optical fiber.
